KEEP THE OCEAN HEALTHY, SAVE DOLPHINS NOW

WHAT IS DOLPHINS?

Dolphins are marine mammals, together with whales and porpoises they are collectively known as cetaceans. Some dolphin species live in rivers and estuaries.

ARE DOLPHINS NOW ENDANGERED?

Definitely Yes, as a result of whaling and other human and natural influences, sixteen species of whales and dolphins are considered to be in danger of extinction according to the Endangered Species Act. Furthermore, because our knowledge about most dolphins and whales is lacking, there may be many more endangered species. Two species of river dolphins, along with the vaquita porpoise, and the northern right whale are currently included among the endangered species of whales and dolphins.

Dolphins play an important role in keeping their environment in balance. They eat other animals – mainly fish and squid – and are themselves a source of food for some sharks and other creatures. Without dolphins, the animals they prey on would increase in number, and their predators wouldn’t have as much to eat.

MY MESSAGE FOR THE DOLPHIN OR MARINE LIVES ABUSERS

We all humans needs care, love and attention. And with that animals should also attain those things. Let us all remember that dolphins and any other marine lives are almost extinct because of our harmful doings in our environment and ecosystem. If we are irresponsible to do our part maybe in the near future these marine lives can’t be seen anymore and go extinct. Especially those who uses small fishing nets and used it as a trap to small fishes, a lot of dolphins are also trapped by those nets, that’s why most of the dead dolphins that we see in the seashores are dead with nets in thier bodies meaning they are trapped.

Also a lot of dead dolphins we see in the seashores are injured by using dynamite. By using such thing in fishing it doesn’t only damage an small scale marine lives but the large one as well. So as an SK member I am encouraging all youth to do thier part, be responsible. Let us not throw any garbage in the seas, let us not use small fishing nets and dynamite in order for us to preserve the population of marine lives in the future.
